Replace the hype with questions.

Check identity before everything else

Write down the network, full token address and where you verified it. Cross-check the project's own published record with a block explorer. Search results and ticker matches are starting points, not confirmation. If the project has no official token record, do not guess which one belongs to it.

Keep source links and the date you checked them. An answer that was true last month may need checking again.

Find out who can change the rules

On Solana, a token's mint account can include a mint authority that creates more supply and a freeze authority that can freeze token accounts. Token extensions can add other behavior. On other networks, contract permissions differ. Ask what powers exist, who controls them and whether they can change.

A removed mint authority answers one narrow question. It does not establish fair distribution, safe liquidity or trustworthy promotion.

Make the unanswered questions visible

Review supply distribution, upcoming unlocks, liquidity and whether large addresses are labeled accurately. Ask whether apparent holders might be pools, exchanges or related wallets. Look for independent evidence of delivered work and clear disclosure of paid promotion.

Read an audit's actual scope, date and version if one is claimed. Ask what it did not assess. Separate current features from roadmap promises and distinguish participation benefits from financial rights. You do not owe a project your money because you spent time researching it.
